Christmas-y shots

•December 15, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Christmas tide. How we love it, yet can barely cram everything we need to do in the time allotted to us.
Hello again dear friends. I am sorry it has taken me a long time to post more pictures. I really am hoping this won’t become a habit. ;)
Life has been a bit busy. I have 3 scheduled photo shoots in the next 2 weeks, so hopefully I will be able to post those as they come.

I have a few Christmas-y shots to share with you today though.
Ever since I got my new camera I have been a bit trigger happy, as any giddy photographer who truly loves the art would be.

Here are some of my favorites from what I have caught this Christmas season.

Christmas Deco -2
A bunch of our ornaments that go on our family tree in the dark denim blue library. One of my favorite shots this season.

Christmas Deco -3
One of my favorite Christmas decorations. It usually goes in the kitchen (the kitchen is always decorated in Christmas candy for the Holidays), but I needed it in front of the tree for this shot.

Christmas Deco -4
A family portrait of the kids behind this one.

Cold?
Having a little fun with my sister out in the cold weather.

Skating Alone
Testing the ice in the new skating rink. We didn’t have skates with us at the time, but we came back later to ice skate. It’s beautiful out there!

I’ll be posting more soon, but I think I’ve overloaded you with enough for now. ;)

A VERY wondrous Christmas to all!

Danae’s Senior Portraits Part 1

•October 21, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Danae -Senior 2010- had one request for her portraits. “Simple, and Outdoorsy”, she said.
So, we did just that for her first round of Senior Portraits.

We had to wait for Autumn to get the bright colors she wanted with the leaves.

We had so much fun doing these! She’s so sweet, and such a sweetie to work with.

Danae Senior 2010 -1
This is one of my favorites. The Black and White really compliments this picture.

Danae Senior 2010 -3
This one really compliments her figure, in a quietly modest way. (Very much like her sweet character) :D

Danae Senior 2010 -4
She’s so cute in this. She said this is one of her favorites.

Danae Senior 2010 -5
She has such a gorgeous smile.

Danae Senior 2010 -7 Color
This one is probably my absolute favorite of hers. She just looks so peaceful, and like she’s really enjoying herself.
I know she enjoyed herself doing it, and you can just tell in this picture because she glows. *laughs*

Anyway, we will be doing the second part of her Senior Pictures soon, I’ll post them up later!
Have a great week everyone!

Secret Project Revealed!

•October 1, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Yes!!! I can now reveal our secret project that we had been working on, and keeping under our hats for a while.

This is was so much fun! Mum has been asking for a family photo for a while, but we had never really been able to get one. Things have always been too busy, or the kids just don’t feel good, or we couldn’t get a good day to go out and get pics.
But finally, mum and dad had a whole-day trip to Chicago and we took the whole day off to go get fall pictures for the living room of us kids.

This is what came of it!

All the kids
This took a bit to get everyone to work together and smile at the exact same moment, and not blink, and to be in a good position.
But we finally caught one, and it turned out beautifully!

On top of a picture of all the kids, we wanted to get a composition of 3 pictures to create a set.
We had about a dozen different pictures to play with, but these turned out to be perfect for each other.

Neesh and Jeff
This picture actually wasn’t posed. They were playing around after the group picture, and I just turned around and told them to smile. It made it more natural, and a lot more fun.

Kid Pile!
The girls had a great time with this. They were all laughing and being silly, and the baby was trying to jump on top. She thought that was great fun!

DJ and Squish
The baby and I. My sis was telling me that I needed to be in one, so she grabbed my camera and snapped one of Squish and myself. ;)
It didn’t turn out horribly, but I had to flip it to fit into the set well.

Picture Frame
This is the set, and as you can see they fit VERY well together.
We put it in a sharp black frame, and it really brought out the muted colors well.
The colors match the library/office walls perfectly!

To say the least, mum was thrilled and VERY surprised! I was so proud of the kids, after we hid all evidence of the picture taking, they all held tight to that secret. Even the baby (and she blabs everything). I was just SO proud of them!
So that’s our Secret Project Revealed. ;) Hope you all enjoyed it!
Have a wonderful week,
~Danica

Shelby -Senior Pics Part II

•September 30, 2009 • Leave a Comment

We wanted to wait for a different season to get a variation of shots.
We wanted this session to look different than the first ones.

I think we got some great shots! They are very different, and yet still gorgeous! She’s so much fun to work with, I think that all photographers would love to work with models like her. ;)

Shelby 2010 -Field Chair
This took a little bit of work to get it right, but we both really like it! :)

Shelby 2010 -Chair
Her eyes just turned out so bright in this!

Shelby 2010 -Tire swing 1
She wanted something to really show the fun childish side of her. We had a lot of fun with this one!

Shelby 2010 -Brick
And last, but not least, the classic brick wall look. *laughs* (She really wanted one, so we trucked across town to get a good brick wall shot for her)

These were tons of fun!
I’ll be adding more pictures very soon. Finally I can reveal the secret project. ;)
Have a great week everyone!!!

New Portraits too!

•September 19, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I forgot these new portraits! :P
Some are friends, some family. But all of them were tons of fun!

Shelby May - Enjoying the flowers
One of Shelby’s Senior Pictures.

Shelby May -On the bench
More of Shelby. She’s SO cute!

Shelby May -Field of dreams
And one of my favorites of her!

Enjoying the view-
Aaand one of Neesh out by a river. (One of my favorites of her too!)

Reaching for the light-
One of my favorite pictures of Squish.

Marsie-
Marsie, though it’s not one of my FAVORITES, I still like it.

By the Depot
And last, but certainly not least. A picture of Jeff, Neesh and Shelby, out after the concert for the Depot.
This was fun, though I didn’t work hard on positioning them. So it could be better, but for a ’snap it while you’re running home’ picture, I think its fun!

A friend told me that I just keep getting better and better, hence why most of my recent ones are some of my favorite pictures of all times. *laughs* I am really enjoying watching my photography improve. God has given me such a gift, and He keeps improving on it! (And I don’t mean that in a bragging way, I just want to worship and be SO grateful for it!)

That’s all for now folks!
I have a “secret project” that I’ve been working on, which I just am in love with, but I can’t post it yet because the person who will be receiving it as a gift hasn’t seen it yet either. :P Hopefully I will be finished with it soon, can reveal it to said person, and post it before I get any further into the season.

BUSY Summer = No time for Photography

•September 19, 2009 • Leave a Comment

So, my dear friends… I have had hardly any time for photography for the better part of the Summer. BUT! Now that school has started again, and my Photography classes (and graphics classes, and photo editing classes… etc) have been starting again, I have been able to get some more shots in the past 2 weeks. YAY!
Here’s some of my best ones recently. ENJOY!

Look to the Light
Amish Lantern- We have this on our back porch and I see it almost every day. I just wanted to capture it. :) I think it turned out well.

Out at the Cemetery
A friend, while we were out at a cemetery. She didn’t even know I was shooting. Yet, I think it turned out really nicely.

On the Edge of the Quay
A light house out on the edge of a quay at a tiny Marina town outside of Holland Michigan.

Sunset on the Bean Field.
A sunset over a local bean field. *grins*

Hotel of Darkness
A hotel outside of Holland Michigan. (Not bad for catching it out of a dirty window going down the highway at 75+ miles an hour!) :D

Thanks for looking!
I’ll definitely be posting more VERY soon.

Wedding Detail clips

As promised here are some clips of the wedding details of Lydia’s wedding.
Some of them are really cool! She had some pretty colors mixed in, and had made almost everything they used at the wedding herself!

Garden View…

•July 5, 2009 • 2 Comments

Yay! I’m posting and it hasn’t been weeks since my last post. I’m so proud of myself. *laughs*
I have an Independence Day blog that I’ll post soon, but for now here’s a quick view of some of my garden favorites. This summer has been an amazing adventure for me. Each day Father has helped me move on in my photography lessons, and I’ve learned more than I could have possibly imagined when I started on this journey! I can’t wait until the Fall to see how far He has taken me then.

As for a status update on my Photography website, I DO have that coming along nicely, thankfully. Maybe I’ll post a webclip/screen cap of the progress in a little bit. I’ve been working on it slowly, but it is coming along, I promise you that.

I also have some pictures from a friend’s wedding that I took. I didn’t actually get as many good pictures as I wanted to. She had another professional photographer there, and I would have just gotten in the way if I had charged ahead and done what I wanted to do. So I hardly got any formals. But I did get some great shots of some of the details. I’ll post those later!

I’ll stop boring you now and get straight to the pictures! YAY!

A Picture a Day -004
I honestly don’t know what this flower is called, but I was at an elderly friend’s house and in her perfect garden (literally, it is like a small slice of earthly heaven it is so beautiful) she had this GORGEOUS little pink flowers that caught my attention. I just couldn’t resist. I think this turned out to be one of the best ones I have from her garden.

Vivid Lilacs
We were at my aunt’s the other day, helping her mow her 9 acres, and she had dozens of lilac trees. That is something I miss the most about our old house… Lilacs. They were too pretty to ignore.

Snap Dragons
Snapdragons, their strange shapes fit their curious name. :P
These were in our puny garden. One of my little sisters has an amazing green thumb, this is in her little garden that she tends to.

Bucket full of Violas
A bucket full of Violas that we have growing on our back step. They’re just thriving out there, unlike the exact same plants that we have on our front steps.

Spiderwort
These are also in our back yard. Spiderwort, with their purpley-blue tint, you can almost forget their insane name. *laughs*

That’s enough from me for now. I’ll be posting more soon.
Have a blessed week, everyone! Now that the 4th of July is over, we have the last bit of Summer Vacations to look forward to. ;)
Enjoy it with all your heart.

Long overdue post -My Brick Collection

•July 1, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Oops, this blog is long overdue.
I’m so sorry it has taken me so long to post this, life (especially school and work) has been busy.
Anyway, even though I haven’t posted it, I still have been taking plenty of pictures. You know me, I am a compulsive photographer.

I’ll update with plenty more pictures later, but for now I’ll just post some of my favorite portraits that I have taken over the past few weeks.
Here is what I call my “Brick Collection”, compliments of my lego-fanatic brother. :P
Enjoy!
